They had finally said their
goodbyes amid a splendid send-off before boarding the Boeing to
begin a new life in a house set beside the River Thames in Oxfordshire.
Compared to the grand perquisite residence in Chittagong, with its
dozen servants and endless social engagements, the Henley house was
undeniably modest in size, and ghostly quiet.

@CalamityJane,
Sorry Jane you're wrong. This is a house in Henley which is where they have the Henley Regatta. It's only special in that it's a very expensive place to live.

Quote:
Henley Royal Regatta is a rowing event held every year on the River Thames by the town of Henley-on-Thames, England. The Royal Regatta is sometimes referred to as Henley Regatta, its original name pre-dating Royal patronage. It should not be confused with the three other regattas rowed over approximately the same course (Henley Women's Regatta, Henley Veterans Regatta and Henley Town and Visitors Regatta), each of which is an entirely separate event.

Note definite article 'the' before Henley and lower case 'h' at the start of 'house'.

The Henley house: a house, previously referred to, located in Henley, or possibly owned, inhabited, designed or built by an individual or organisation called Henley. Which of these is the case will be indicated by the context.

A Henley house: an unspecified house located in Henley or or possibly owned, inhabited, designed or built by an individual or organisation called Henley. Which of these is the case will be indicated by the context.

Henley House: could be the name of a building which could be located anywhere. Also it is the name of the first inland post established by the Hudson's Bay Company, and of numerous buildings, companies etc, in the United Kingdom and elsewhere.

@kkfengdao,

Too much information here, and false trails.

This was simply a reference to a house by the river in Henley, on the Thames.
