Perhaps someone might still be kind enough to explain the following; it seems that I don't really catch the meaning.
Context: The supposed captain of the
Pequod is speaking to Ishmael:
Quote:Merchant service be damned. Talk not that lingo to me. Dost see that leg? - I'll take that leg away from thy stern, if ever thou talkest of the marchant service to me again.

I think Ahab was saying, and this is a paraphrase"
"Talk about the merchant marine around me again and Im gonna stick this peg leg up your ass"
Peleg , was one of the Pequods owners , not the captain, no?

I still feel partial to my explanation, Ire- read Moby Dick last summer while my wife and i were on a 'cruise" and I forgot about Peleg and Bildad
