I figured we could have a thread where we post various ads from various races and discuss them. As social media becomes a larger part of elections, inspecting the messages we get in ads, I think will be very telling.

@failures art,
Oh my what a horribly racist ad. I hope to God this guy loses.

I wonder who the actress is.

Why would that matter?

@H2O MAN,
I find it hard to imagine that I would ever be hungry enough to play a racial stereotype of myself. I wonder if she just did it for the money or if she is a political partisan who didn't realize how demeaning that ad is.

@maxdancona,

I think that you are missing the point of this ad.

The cute actress is obviously playing the part of a modern 'Seoul City Sue',
she was the North Korean female radio propagandist during the Korean war.

Watch reruns of MASH and you will understand.

@H2O MAN,
That doesn't make any sense H2OMan.

Seoul City Sue was a white American who was broadcast in Korea during an active war. The woman in this ad playing the part of a Chinese woman in China. Seoul is not in China and we are not in a war with China.

And it is hard to see similarities between Ho Chi Mihn and a racist Republican politician.

Re: Hoekstra ad. That woman's English is a whole lot better than nearly 100% of Americans' Chinese. Pretty impressive for an alleged "slur."

@H2O MAN,
Brit makes an asinine point that stereotypes all people of Chinese origin. Perhaps the best use of Hume's ignorance is that it shines a light on precisely why Hoekstra is also an ass.
