Romans 3: 9-12:

9What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;

10As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

11There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

12They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

I don't think he limps nearly as much as you do.

After all, you seem to only go in circles as if you have only one working leg.

@jcboy,
Romney has the support of Clint Eastwood, George W. Bush, Kid Rock and Ann Coulter just and only over their shared racial identity. I might be wrong, though.

Glad you acknowledged the possibility of error. However, considering all of the many objective issues involving national politics and priorities out there, what exactly is it that leads you to this conclusion? Your criteria are very strong with "just and only". What is it that makes you so sure that nothing other than race is involved among these individuals?

Do you believe that a shared racial identity also affects the voting preferences of African Americans? Do you believe they often vote in large numbers "just and only" based on racial identity ?

Whatever may be the average motivations, the voting statistics very demonstrate clearly that racial identity is a far stronger and more reliable predictor of actual voting preferences among Blacks than it is among whites or Asians.

@Thomas,
Thomas wrote:

You even approved of the way he bullied all allies of America's who had made the right call and stayed out. (I vividly remember sitting in your car and hearing you say, "I strongly approve of inflicting pain on France right now." That was in early 2007.) Perhaps a little perspective is in order here.

I failed to respond earlier to this phrase excerpted from an earlier reply to a post of mine from my friend Thomas.

I don't think those were my exact words, but I do recall expressing that sentiment during that pleasant evening. It is at least interesting that my opinion appears to be shared to some degree by the current Chancellor of Germany.

I should also concede that my judgement then about the merits of the Iraqi intervention has since proven to be badly defective, and that it is possible that Chirac was trying to give us a helpful warning.

Kudos, George. Not often people posting on the Internet acknowledge these kinds of things. I applaud you for doing so.

Kudos to someone for admitting that supporting the Iraq war was wrong. Low bar.

Anyone who supported Obama in 2008 and is reluctant to do so in 2012, or is undecided, needs to read this.

New Yorker

Quote:
The morning was cold and the sky was bright. Aretha Franklin wore a large and interesting hat. Yo-Yo Ma urged his frozen fingers to play the cello, and the Reverend Joseph E. Lowery, a civil-rights comrade of Martin Luther King, Jr.,’s, read a benediction that began with “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” the segregation-era lamentation of American realities and celebration of American ideals. On that day in Washington—Inauguration Day, January 20, 2009—the blustery chill penetrated every coat, yet the discomfort was no impediment to joy. The police estimated that more than a million and a half people had crowded onto the Mall, making this the largest public gathering in the history of the capital. Very few could see the speakers. It didn’t matter. People had come to be with other people, to mark an unusual thing: a historical event that was elective, not befallen.

No it is not like Damn vs Darn. It is simply using the intellectually handicapped condition as a slur word against somebody which is demeaning and hurtful to those with that condition.

Perhaps. But I think my offer was appropriate...and I hope George understands why I offered the compliment.

In any case, I am of the opinion that setting a "high" bar in A2K can lead to a lot of frustration. I often want to offer kudos to some people for posting two consecutive posts without calling someone else a moron or an asshole. Wink
