Felix shook his head in defeat and relaxed his shoulders a little. ‘I suppose it will do no good to rake over the same old coals again. I’ve made my point, and that will just have to do.’
‘Yes, I’m afraid it will.’

‘Yes, I’m afraid it will.’
It means:
"Yes. It will have to do."

@surovi,
No it doesn't. If you don't know English any better than that, you have no business answering such questions.

@kkfengdao,

It also means something like

"Yes, unfortunately, it will."

@Setanta,
For a guy who has, many times, given terrible advice about English, you're being awfully tough on Surovi, Setanta.

Zero credibility when it comes to language/grammar issues describes you, Om.

Consider how many times you have run fast and far from discussing the same.

Being an old goat American, you are part of the Strunk & White generation.

50 Years of Stupid Grammar Advice

I won't be celebrating.

The Elements of Style does not deserve the enormous esteem in which it is held by American college graduates. Its advice ranges from limp platitudes to inconsistent nonsense. Its enormous influence has not improved American students' grasp of English grammar; it has significantly degraded it.

In addition to being a grammar putz, you are a renowned liar. Your frequent promises to address a certain language issue were obviously just a series of lies.
