I cannot believe that Contrex would not complain of the deficiency of the context. Very Happy

There was no context given whatsoever. The meaning is obvious enough. There are mutliple Western (mainly US) cultural references contained in the phrase. It might be useful to know that the OP probably got the phrase from the title of a song by Deicide* (an American "death metal" band whose name means "killing of God"). The phrase "as long as ye (archaic 'you') both shall live" comes from a traditional Protestant Christian marriage vows where the bride and groom are asked by the priest to promise to be faithful to each other as long as they are both alive. Clearly the song writer wished to convey the idea of opposition to, or subversion of, that ideal and probably what underlies it. He (I am sure it was a 'he') reverses the traditional marriage vow (well known to US listeners and especially their parents, and identifiably part of the parental value system) to swear undying hatred for the person being addressed, contrasted with the undying love which the traditional bride and groom swore towards each other.

* A somewhat stupid "let's shock the old people and whine a lot" type of teenage thing

Quote:
Not as long as we both shall live,
sworn to resentment I can never forget,

No empathy for you will ever fill this heart of mine,
I wait the day to celebrate the ending of your life.
.....Always to be your enemy.

Depositions of the truth be tell,
from out of the shadows,
released from hell.

Not as long as you life exist will you ever undo a single thing that you did,
You'll never live to see the light on which the son will shine,
The emptiness within your heart is all that's left behind.

The lie of you has been besieged.

Cut you in two and reduce you to dust,
pitiful lamb of betray and disgust,
Overlook you with my eyes of contempt,
powerless as I envision you dead.
Rendering torment on all that you grieve,
evil upon you as long as you breathe,
Blasphemy damning and nailed to the wall,
through my conviction of Lucifer's call,

Insanely driven by the sins of your god, weeping infection
from out your scars,
Empty and f_cked and forever indeed, you have been cursed by the powers to be

Wear out your welcome where ever you stay, live in denial the rest of your days.

Once you are dead I will dance on your grave.

Not as long as we both shall live,
the son you begotten,
he will never forgive.
Thou arrogance will be the death of you along with thee,
a sense of loss has come a cross is to where you need to be,.....
Devour you in agony....

Acquisition of your lies be seen,
the trials of wisdom at the end of your dream.
Not as long as you wish to be,
no place in your world where you will ever find me.

You gave away the innocence you made and can't be found,

Our world has been a better place since you been not around.

The end of you I pray of thee..

Cut you in two and reduce you to dust,
pitiful lamb of betray and disgust.

Overlook you with my eyes of contempt,
powerless as I envision you dead.
Rendering torment on all that you grieve,
evil upon you as long as you breathe,
Blasphemy damning and nailed to the wall,
through my conviction of Lucifer's call,

Insanely driven by the sins of your god,
weeping infection from out your scars,
Empty and f_cked and forever indeed, you have been cursed by the powers to be

Wear out your welcome where ever you stay, live in denial the rest of your days.

Once you are dead I will dance on your grave.

@contrex,
That's a song of typical psychological inversion. Darn it. The guy who wrote it was an asshole.

@contrex,
Would you like to rewrite the line "Acquisition of your lies be seen,
the trials of wisdom at the end of your dream" for me, Contrex? I didn't get it well.

I would not care to attempt that task: those particular words are literally nonsense. In many cases, the words of rock songs are chosen after the tune is written, and making (much) sense is not the chief priority, as long as a vaguely appropriate impression is conveyed to the listener. You find a similar thing with poetry, although I would not dignify this trash with such a description. Many of the parts that do make sense are wildly non standard.

It not because of that fact that I call the lyrics "trash". It is because they are not only without any artistic merit, but also essentially disposable. The fans value death metal for attitude, loud guitar, pictures of skulls, sword-and-sorcery allusions, etc, more than any lliterary qualities of the lyrics.

To get a pretty accurate idea of the intellectual level of this genre, see a film called "This is Spinal Tap".

I know your idea; no misunderstanding there. But the explanation has its benefit of digging further into the implications of the depraved lyric.

Thank you.

By the by, the grammar of "Depositions of the truth be tell" is totally bullshit. On what ground can "be tell" stand?

"Tell" (fairly obviously a substitute for 'told' - so not too hard to decipher) is there to provide something for 'hell' to rhyme with. It's that simple. It's a song lyric, where rules don't matter.
