Remember there was no United State as a state. It was part of the British Empire. And I think that we've had an invented American people, who are in fact Europeans, and were historically part of the European community. And they had a chance to go many places.
Well, if Gingrich could say that about the Palestinian peoples, surely he could say that about Americans as well, let alone the Israelis.
On the face of it, however, this invective plays well for the Christianist Republican vote he's out to get.
Unfortunately, this invective merely further stultifies any peace negotiations between Israel/US and the Paelstinian peoples.
