If you are afraid of non-existence, why is this so?

Non-existence doesn't appeal to me at all. I'm an existence kinda
guy.

I'm not sure how to describe my reaction to the thought of just
ceasing to exist. It's a mix of fear, sadness and just a dollop of
dread. I realize that (given the assumptions of this topic) I won't
be there to experience it, but to me that's precisely the point. I
like existing. I like existing now.

I didn't exist way back then, but this isn't then. This is now. I
like now. I liked it when I typed that. I still like it. I don't
want now to be way back then again.

I fall asleep fast and sleep well. But I know that I'm going to get
up in the morning. OK, I don't know, let's just call it a working
hypothesis. But I don't think I'd be quite so easy in my mind about
if I thought that I was about to obliterate.

Sorry to be the scaredy-cat in the group, but that's how I feel.

@George,
George, one must appreciate your honesty. I too prefer to exist. But for me existence is the opportunity to do the things I love to do, e.g., play music, paint pictures, make love, enjoy my friends, etc. But I ask you, when you say "I like existing" what is it that does the existing? Your ego-self, your sense of "I"? If you came to see that that SUBJECT of experience of living were an illusion, do you think you would have the same degree of what you call your "mix of fear, sadness and just a dollop of dread"? (well put by the way)

@JLNobody,
I'm enjoying my illusion of traveling the world while I'm still breathing the air and walking this planet. What's nice about my illusion is the simple fact that I'm able to share it with fans from around the world on my travel blog (some 25,000 hits since Feb 2010) @ www.travelpod.com/members/c.i.222

@JLNobody,
Like CI, I cherish my illusions, my illusion of me above all. In the end what
difference does it make? This illusion of reality, if illusion it be, is real
enough to suit me. I'd be a poor Buddhist, my friend.

@George,
George, I just noticed your signature, and I like it!

There are so many ways to interpret those two short sentences, it's philosophy at its best.

What a FOOL!
C I believes that philosophy (love of wisdom) is best when unintelligible;
i.e., clearly written advice is of less value than garbled writing.

@JLNobody,
U tacitly imply that u r neither stupid, nor foolish,
yet your posts allege that:
". . . The spirit of civil conversation consists in building on another's observation, not overturning it. "
By THAT reasoning, when conversing with commies, nazis or child rapists,
one shoud AGREE with them and then BUILD upon their observations,
NOT overturn them.

From those notions: I dissent!!!
