refrigerator is a big word, which makes me tired. Very Happy

We say fridge.

They say icebox, I think.

Germans say Kuehlschrank, or cold-cupboard.

I sometimes call it the fridge, but I like refrigerator. It's a word with fine connotations Very Happy the place where cheese waits its turn

Americans generally don't say 'ice box' if they mean an electrical 'fridge. The expression 'ice box' is reserved for those very old-fashioned food storage cabinets that you actually had to supply a big block of ice for. The phrase is still in circulation because those old-fashioned ice boxes nowadays are considered very chic collectibles and sell in antique stores for 10 times what they used to cost new Smile
