A lot of people wear gold and silver jewelry - gold and silver teeth, necklaces, medallions, pendants, chains, cuffs, etc.
Some people wear brass, iron and steel jewelry - besides steel watches. Is that considered tough?

They weren't always going to blows with enemies - they strategized how they were going to beat them, and were always trying to have the one-up on them.
That is basically what my characters will do when they fight villains.
