Sure, it's a repost from Fark, but it's a damn good summary of how I see the GOP contenders.

Quote:
The US Republican race is dominated by ignorance, lies and scandals. The current crop of candidates have shown such a basic lack of knowledge that they make George W. Bush look like Einstein. The Grand Old Party is ruining the entire country's reputation.

@DrewDad,
Well, at least Perry will be out of Texas if he gets elected. That's something you must be looking forward to.

@Thomas,
We'd likely just elect someone worse, who we'd then foist off on the nation.

Let's stop the cycle now.

A nasty title (condemning Republicans - What a surprise?)

Three replies of which none are substantive.

Yet...this thread achieves "Popular" status.

This is almost as bad as the Dys thread that acheived the status with zero replies.

What the hell does "popular" mean on A2K?

Really, it makes so sense at all and suggests a huge bias within the ghost in this particular machine.

Robert?

The second I hit "reply," I realized it was unfair to question Robert on this issue.

This is how he makes his living.

The forum is predominately left-wing.

It makes good business sense to feature patently left-wing threads as "Popular."

Presumably, his income is based on # of "hits" since we pay no fee, and since most of the A2K "hits" are left-wing, that's the audience he has to serve.

Totally understandable.

Does anyone know where I can find a forum that requires members to pay a fee?

I have read posts by robert savaging liberals more than a few times. He is to me an equal savager of all persuasions.

@Finn dAbuzz,
I think that there are a lot of right wingers here. I think the system is fair. You can always thumb down posts you don't care to read.

@edgarblythe,
A lot?

By comparison? Please.

Robert does a good job trying to maintain impartiallity, but the proof in the pudding is that this thread made "Popular" when a H20Man or Gungasnake thread just about never does.

It's capitalism baby.

And why does any thread by J Goldman achieve a "Popular" rating:

Because the patrons of A2K have indicated a perverse and bullying desire to dump on the young man; irrespective of what he posts.

@Finn dAbuzz,
I have all the goldman threads thumbed down. No comment on that.

@Finn dAbuzz,
Not saying that for each lib there is a conserv. But they have a voice and some are respected by liberals. Heck, I don't thumb you down.

Ahhh now I think I get it:

Thumbs up indicates popularity.

So, if enough racists thumb up a thread about lynching blacks, it will make it to "Popular."

The ghost in the machine is not biased after all.

Except...now explain how the Dys thread with zero replies made "Popular."

@Finn dAbuzz,
I am no a2k programming expert. My guess is, there were no other threads rating any higher at the time. There seems to be only a short time for a thread to appear on that list.
