Why use "will already be," why not use " have already been?"

Context:

In the end, then, it is diffi cult to recom-mend Cycles of Time. Experts will already be familiar with the topics discussed in its stron-ger passages, such as the thermodynamic arrow of time and Penrose diagrams. And casual readers will have a hard time separat-ing the wheat from the chaff.

Because it is a supposition, a presumption. It refers to the present, not the past.

So "its stronger passages" refers to "Cycles of Time's stronger passages?"
