I was experiencing something similar on some A2K threads and wrote to the Help Desk about it. I was told that if you are seeing this pop up while reading some old A2K threads, it is probably because of some of the old smiley faces people used to include in their posts. They were hot-linking them from another site that has since gone defunct and it is now producing those password request popups anytime an old post attempts to display the smiley.

That explains it, because I have been going through the old threads for alost a week. Thanks.
