The fact that the matter in the cosmos is "expanding" (only in the sense of bodies of matter moving away from one another), and planets travel irregular paths which are the product of their relationships to the gravity wells near them are not good reasons to believe something as hilariously stupid as that life arose on Mars and was somehow magically transported to the earth, or that we will someday inhabit Venus, a planet with a run-away greenhouse effect and an atmosphere 90 times denser than our own at mean surface level.

You should buddy up to Fido. He also believes that if he can imagine something, it might be true, and that if it might be true, one might as well assume it is true. You two are a match made in heaven.

@Setanta,
Althought these ideas can be set up to be ridiculed (lets not beat around the bush about that), I have to agree with smcmonagle when people condescend ideas. It seems like all you do is look for threads to pick apart... Amity and open minded-ness... Just saying.

@Procrustes,
People get as much amity out of me as they provide. Perhaps you (as well as this joker) need more information before you judge--that would go a long way to keeping an open mind. The first time i ever encountered this clown, he was ridiculing something i was posting (or she, it's ambiguous). That's about all i've had from this clown since then. You get out of me what you give.

If you were really familiar with what i post, you'd see that i engage in a lot of threads just for the silliness in them. You might discover that i have a lot of friends here (i've been here about nine years, and some people i knew before this place started), and we joke around with one another. Yes, i pick apart a lot of threads. There seems to be an endless supply of bullshit here. Leaving aside the blatant attempts people make to push their products, and the English as a Foreign Language threads (where i try to help the member asking the question), i'd say about three out of four threads here are bullshit. Some are conspiracy theory bullshit, a lot are partisan political bullshit, and some--far too many--are goofy ideas bullshit trying to pass themselves off as having some scientific merit.

My advice to you is that if you don't like what i post, don't read it.

I knew the Allens. They used to live two and a half blocks up the street. No, they kept to themselves and could not have been that promiscuous.

@Setanta,
Fair enough. Your experience on this site may over shadow others who may bring the 'silliness' from time to time. As a person new to this site I don't know who those people who've been here for a long time are but I don't think that matters too much. Continuing with negativity is pretty silly (no matter who started it). Words are still potent. Sorry if I judged, I try not to jump to conclusions about people cos I don't particularly like that treatment either...

You needn't apologize. However, you're a fool if you think i'm going to lie down quietly under abuse from other people.

@Setanta,
IMO I think it's better to walk away with some integrity than none at all. So call me a fool. “Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something.”- Plato

But hey, do what you will. I'm not arguing with you. Smcmonagle is the one you should be talking to. I just don't like derogatory language period. In 'real life' I've had my fair share of abuse just because of petty differences (colour of my skin, where I'm from etc..) and from experience retaliating with negativity is never a solution. But you can make up your own mind about this. I'm done...

@Procrustes,
Talking to Smcmonagle is almost a complete waste of time, although it is sometimes entertaining. You say you're not arguing with me, while you're arguing with me. This last post of yours was a load of passive-agressive bullshit in which you denied arguing with me, while arguing with me, and continued to denigrate me for arguing, while denying that you engage in that behavior.

You're not done, you're half-baked.

@Setanta,
Nothing "magical" about it... we will one day have complete capability to travel to other close planets and by this time we might have may have to do it out of need for survival>>>and history does repeat itself. You really need to stop thinking about our puny milliseconds here on earth and try to imagine what else could possibly been happening millions of years ago

Additionally you may be correct about venus and its amotsphere NOW. But what about a few thousand years when it is in the same location that earth is now. Remember, earth was once inhabitable too

And you keep contradicting yourself. " im entertaining" Im not entertaining"
Believe me, you re gonna sleep on this idea of planet jumping and it will hit you.
I like a good argument but lets stick to the topic. If you disagree on points thats fine, thats why i am here, but the way i see it is you said there is a whole lot of bullshit in here" And thats what set me off. So please stick to the topic in this thread

Yes my thoughts exactly, the indigenes or Venutians as I prefer to refer to them, would welcome visitors from our cool planet.

@Miss L Toad,
not sure if you re being sarcastic or not but in the event that your not>>>but you need to imagine two planets in the span of an area from the sun in which one starts life while one is at its end> What would we do in that evnt. Well at this time we would no aboout the neighboring planet and presumably have the tech to go there> This being a planet in its infancy may only harbor life forms of that close to dinosaurs or lets say monkeys in our case. we would only be able to send a few people and a few supplies to sustain life. What happens after that would only be known by the few humans taht went there to reproduce our colony with theirs. Humans would evolve out and in comes the hybrid of human/venusitian or whatever you call them. Just imagine all of that 1000000000000 years ago, but here on our planet.

To add.. Imagine what we see as an alien breeding with what we see as our ancestors or apes. conceivably either of the to resemble us in some way>>> now breed the two and you may have a human. Just think about it. I dont necessarily believe all this to be fact but it may be a thought provoking movie. and no, not planet of the apes...or maybe
