UPMC is a faculty of the University of Paris. The letters stand for University of Pierre and Marie Curie. It is part of the school of chemistry I believe.

What is "faculty"? School? (like the Medical
School of Harvard University?)

Faculty is something within a school. Using your analogy The Medical School at Harvard University may well have a Tropical Diseases Faculty.
