Glad I Have Only Two Knees...

Am scheduled for my second knee replacement surgery Oct. 25. Had the other knee done nine years ago and am told the recovery is easier now. I surely hope so, because the first one was awful...

@mags314772,
I know quite a few people who have gone through that. I will need too as well in a little while.
Nothing makes you feel more vulnerable than having to have bone removed ...ugh.

I hope everything goes well for you

@mags314772,
Ouch, mags, but I'm glad you are going to have the surgery. Keep us up on how the surgery goes, and how the recovery goes.

@mags314772,
My mom recently had a knee replacement surgery, she didn't love it but overall it went pretty smoothly. About 6 months on, she's doing very well. Good luck!

@mags314772,
Oh...I do hope it goes well for you!

Apart from the awful recovery, how is the first bionic knee going for you?

@mags314772,
I remember the last time, from Abuzz, but didn't realize you had a difficult recovery. Anyway, you're not alone this time, right?

Actually, I seem to have done something diabolical to my left knee....it's a completely different feeling from the normal pain. It's got me wondering.....

@roger,
Yes, it was 9 years ago, Roger. From what they tell me, the recovery is a bit easier now. The incision is smaller, and they don't cut as many ligaments. IT'S STILL RATHER GRUELLING...the rehab, that is.

@Rockhead,
Rockhead, I get up at odd hours, drink coffee, play on computer, then go back to bed. It's one of the advantages of being retired.

@mags314772,
Mags, I'm really interested.....what is the previously operated on knee like for you? Does it really do what you want a knee to do? Is it still painful?

@dlowan,
The already replaced knee is good. I followed the rugged rehab faithfully, and so have full range of motion. I have fibromyalgia, which complicates the picture somewhat, in that there are tender places around even the good knee. In addition, the replaced knee has been put under stress by having to do most of the work until I get the other one replaced. But all in all, it's good. and I have full use of it.

@mags314772,
You know, Roger, I wasn't alone last time, either. My dear Richard, who was then my boyfriend and is now my husband of eight years, took me into his home and cared for me after surgery. He will do it again this time, too, bless his heart.

@mags314772,
Forgot that.

Memory time, anyway. I think you wondering how you would occupy yourself that first time, and I suggested a kitten. Little did I know. . . .
