Now that you mention Clint, I do recall hearing of it.

He's come a long way from Rowdy Yates, edgar.

I never dreamed Rowdy Yates would amount to anything.

Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Rollin' rollin' rollin'

Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Though the streams are swollen
Keep them doggies rolling
Rawhide
Rain and wind and weather
Hell bent for leather
Wishing my girl was by my side
All the things I'm missin'
Good victuals, love and kissin'
are waiting at the end of my ride

Move 'em on (Head 'em up)
Head 'em up (Move 'em up)
Move 'em on (Head 'em up)
Rawhide
Cut 'em out (Ride 'em in)
Ride 'em in (Cut 'em out)
Cut 'em out (Ride 'em in)
Rawhide

Keep movin' movin' movin'
Though their disapprovin'
Keep them doggies moving
Rawhide
Don't try to understand them
Just rope, throw and brand them
Soon we'll be living high and wide
My heart's calculating
My true love will be waiting
be waiting at the end of my ride

Move 'em up (Head 'em up)
Head 'em up (Move 'em on)
Move 'em on (Head 'em up)
Rawhide
Cut 'em out (Ride 'em in)
Ride 'em in (Cut 'em out)
Cut 'em out (Ride 'em in)
Rawhide
Yah!
Move 'em on (Head 'em up)
Head 'em up (Move 'em on)
Move 'em on (Head 'em up)
Rawhide
Cut 'em out (Ride 'em in)
Ride 'em in (Cut 'em out)
Cut 'em out (Ride 'em in)
Rawhide
Yah!
Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Yah!
Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Rollin' rollin' rollin'
Yah!
Rawhide
Yah! Rawhide!

and poor Gil drowned. Wow, edgar. Water music seems to be the theme of the day.

Sailor (Your Home Is The Sea) - Lolita

[Composed by Werner Scharfenberger and Fini Busch]
[English words by lyricist Norman Newell]
[German version ("Seeman") by "Lolita"]

(Seeman, deiner Heimat ist das Meer)

Seeman, lass das traumen
Denk nicht an zu Haus
Seeman, Wind und Wellen
Rufen dich hinaus

Deiner Heimat ist das Meer
Deiner Freunde sind die Sterne
Ueber Lido und Shanghai
Ueber Bali und Hawaii
Deiner Leibe ist dein Schiff
Deiner Sinsucht ist die Ferne
Und nur Ihnen bist du Treu
Ein Lieben lauf

Seeman
Sailor, Sailor
Lass das traumen
Your home is the deep blue sea
Denke
Your ship is your love
Nicht an mich
And the stars are your best friends
Seeman
And though you find your thrills
Denn die Fremde
In the places far away from me
Weiter
Just remember I'm always waiting
Fur auf dir
When your journey ends

Deiner Heimat ist das Meer
Deiner Freunde sind die Sterne
Ueber Lido und Shanghai
Ueber Bali und Hawaii
Deiner Liebe ist dein Schiff
Deiner Sinsucht ist die Ferne
Und nur Ihnen bist du Treu
Ein Lieben lauf

Ditta Zuza Einzinger from Austria peaked at #5
1960 simultaneous covers by Anne Shelton and Petula Clark

Thank goodness Peter Jennings warned us to turn away if we didn't want the ending of "Million Dollar Baby" ruined. I turned away and missed the whole controversy part. There's no way to tell us what the controversy is Letty without divulging the ending?

"Rocky" is coming on Turner Classic Movies tonight.Right now as a matter of fact. Later is "Midnight Cowboy." I've never seen Cowboy uncut. X-rated Best Movie of the Year Oscar winner. Hope I can stay up for it.

Midnight Cowboy is one of my top favorite films. I have an emotional attachment to Voight's character, I think, because I used to hitch hike into new cities and often ran into situations as trying as ones he became involved in. Plus, it's a top notch movie.

I'm really going to try and stay up for it. Vanity Fair's March issue, the Hollywood issue, features a story on it and "Rebel Without a Cause."

Rebel Without a Cause was interesting, but, in my view, had severe script problems.

I never got the big woo about it or about James Dean, for that matter.

Watched East of Eden with James Dean...eoe. Not bad as I recall. you're right about Million Dollar Baby. I know the ending, but it wouldn't bother me to see the movie, really.

I saw a movie last night on TV with Christopher Melloni--the man on SVU. It was a sci-fi thing and in it, he was a detective. Same formula, but that man is a good actor. Anyone here know the movie?

I haven't been watching much sci-fi. Strangely, I love it in books, but not movies.

Good Lord, edgar. At one time I read every sci-fi book that I could get my hands on, but most of all I read short stories. Then I got hooked on the Xfiles, and they're still not bad. My daughter is trying to get me to read Koonz's version of Frankenstein.

I watched Deadly Matrimony last night with Treat Williams and Brian Dennehey. Had no idea that it was a mini-series rolled into one. Needless to say, I was up most of the night since it was four hours long. Fantastic movie, however, based on true events.

I watched Stagecoach again this AM. It's the kind of western I watch every four or five years.

I watch Stagecoach every time it's on TV. Both versions. I preferred John Carradine in the gambler's role in the first one and Bing Crosby as the doctor in the remake. Very Happy

I see you folks were discussing East of Eden. I liked it, but was disappointed that it only covered a small portion of Steinbeck's novel. There was a great miniseries made of it with Timothy and Sam Bottoms, Bruce Boxleitner and Jane Seymour who was superb as the mother. I'd love to see that one again.

I missed the mini series.

I have to say that from childhood Thomas Mitchell has been one of the actors I love to watch for. While I do like Bing, I prefer Thomas in Stagecoach.

Oh, I think Thomas Mitchell has been great in everything he's been in, but I adore Bing. (lol) And, although I enjoyed the remake, IMO it didn't hold a candle to the original. It certainly wasn't John Ford.

My favorite Thomas Mitchell role was in The Hurricane, with Jon Hall and Dorothy Lamour and Raymond Massey, NOT to be confused with the Mia Farrow movie of the same name. He didn't do a bad job in GWTW, either.

Off to the Oscars now. Keep posting those movies, Edgar. Love it.

Ah, Ihad forgotten, Thomas Mitchell, all. Tara was certainly named for his Irish heritage. The Harp that once tolled Tara's Hall. ...thinking back.

I once saw Thomas Mitchell in Swiss Family Robinson, possibly the worst movie I saw him in. Seems a giant spider came out of a hole and killed one of the youngsters in it.
