In my high school days, my Chinese teacher once proclaimed before the whole class that my Chinese handwriting was the best. But my English handwriting is far from perfect. One reason is that that bookshops in China don't sell English calligraphy books, which are also missing in my city library.
I hope you guys recommend the best English handwriting models here.
At one time, many years ago, handwriting was taught in American schools. However, handwriting and calligraphy are not the same thing. I really wouldn't know where to recommend that you look for such a book. It's been 50 years or more since handwriting was taught in Ameican schools, and with the new electronic world we live in, people employ their handwriting less and less often.
@oristarA,
I think cursive is still introduced in most schools, but it is quite unusual to actually see examples of handwriting these days.
This website has good basic instruction on cursive, but it doesn't really show what a nice handwritten letter looks like.

Setanta's cursive is quite lovely. I should find a sample and scan it in for you.
@ehBeth,
this site is also interesting
click on the 'example' for a sample of good basic cursive

@ehBeth,
It looks like they dotted the "e" in the word "exercise" in that example.
