Neither of them was as round
or spherical, as Chaz is.

Neither Sonny or Cher was taking massive amount of hormones to change their basic bodies from a female form toward a male one.

I saw the very first appearance of Sonny & Cher
on Dick Clark's American Bandstand; maybe around 1959, was it??

In 1959 I would had been barely 11 so I have no memory of that event.

@ehBeth,
I know that "Stars" is a very loose term for this show, but is Chaz Bono an entertainer also or is his claim to fame his parents?

@ehBeth,
Thanks, I'll look and take that as the go-to.

Right now I'm enjoying my repulsion - though I have to pause.
Things are even worse!!
Pass the cheetos.

@engineer,
I remember there was a band, perhaps while he was earlier in the transition process.

ahhhhhhhhhhhh (google is our friend) Ceremony (as Chastity Bono)

she looked amazingly like Cher's mother and sister back then

@ehBeth,
Thank for the youtube video and for some reason in her looks I am thinking of a slightly heavier Mary of Peter Paul and Mary fame.

I remember the party for my 3rd birthday,
and some of the time leading up to it.
My cousin, Norma, got married when I was 3.
I remember attending the wedding
and I remember the couple coming over
to our house for a few weeks or months before, discussing the forthcoming event.
I clearly remember some matters of controversy related thereto being discussed.
That same year, my uncle's first wife died. I remember visiting her in the hospital.
Her death kinda grossed me out.

Not quite.

Cher was born in 1945; but, in 1959 she hadn't yet met Sonny. It was early to mid 1960s when they hooked up, did backup for Phil Spector, then became Caesar and Cleo before finally just being their own names of Sonny and Cher around 1965.

@IRFRANK,
Then OneMillionMoms' shouldn't let their kids watch. And let everyone else make up their own minds--instead of trying to control it all.

Now you know when you have God on your side it gives you the right to control everyone else's life.

Tolerance is a virtue.

@IRFRANK,
Frank personally I am still find it sad that a woman who was once a very cute little girl driven by some forms of mental health problems could not accept the sex she was born into and went down the road of mutilation to turn herself into a pseudo male.

Yes it is her right to so mutilate herself and then call herself a man still it is inherently sad in my opinion.

I agree that it is sad.
Presumably, thay have all of the ordinary annoyances of life,
to which that is added. Apparently, it is annoying to them,
to the point that thay find it intolerable.

Well I think this is a good thing, from watching them together on different shows I don't like either one of them, she is whiny and he seems to have adopted the role of a hot head inconsiderate hetero husband, maybe apart they will be more likable.
