I am a little bit confused about the last part of the above sentence, who can explain it to me? Many thanks!

This is what webopedia says.
'Also known as a patch cable, a patch cord is a piece of copper wire or fiber optic cable that connects circuits on a patch panel. '

In the sentence it must be a metaphor. It's saying that the responsiveness of the BMW is so intuitive, it's almost as if the driver's brain is hard wired into the controls.
