@GracieGirl,
I'd say at least half of all Germans speak English well enough to carry a conversation. My English is better than average because I spent a year and a half of my childhood in California, and because I currently live in New Jersey.

I went to a very strict girls´school. I did not mind that it was strict, but what I did not like was teachers who were unfair or teachers who liked to crush somebody´s personality.
Because of that type of teachers we - at least many of us - learned to fight for our rights and that made us stronger later in life. So all I can say much of what I did not like has done me good later - except mathematics. I never liked it and never used it.

@GracieGirl,
Gracie girl,
how many times have you been told not to give away too much of your self on internet? The people who have told you so really mean it well and you should listen to them.
Still you go ahead and give away more information about yourself. Now the name of two teachers. It will be so easy to find out what school they teach at.

I loved elementary school and junior high, but mostly elementary school. I liked being in advanced classes and being challenged. I also had some wonderful teachers whom I remember with great fondness after many years.

I had mixed feeling about high school. Didn't mind the social aspects. But some of the subjects bored me silly

I also had mixed feeling about college. At this point I had developed my own interests and didn't like having to take courses that bored me. I made reading lists and continued my education after I graduated.

But the one real thing I hated about school (and work for that matter) was being told what to do. I don't take kindly to being ordered around (my parents could attest to that). Stand in a straight line. Hey, you stand in a straight line. You gotta study this. Why? I don't like that.

Gack indeed!

Gack of course meaning "Exciting, thrilling, fun!"

To the microscopes!

Au contraire.

Gack meaning "you actually want me to cut open a frog that's been
marinated in formaldehyde and poke around in its guts?". That gack.

And microscopes give me a headache.

@George,
True, the lab definitely needed a facelift. I do have to question bringing in that priest though to perform a blessing... is the school board expecting a problem?

Fr. Markos thought some cleasing was needed after he he caught me in
there with MaryLou Josserand. (Talk about chemistry! Yowza!)

Don't worry about the continental drift paper. I'm writing it at an
appropriate speed.
