I would like to know whether there can be a logical basis for ranking some attributes higher than others. Wisdom and spiritual awakening are considered to be superior attributes than beauty and wealth. But what is the logical basis for such a statement. Don't tell me that it's intuitive or that it's a universally accepted wisdom (Argumentum ad populum). I want the solid logical proof for the premise.
Isn't Wisdom the consolation prize for getting old?

@HolySin,
Actually goes the opposite way...Aesthetics, the elegance of forms, and in them the elegance of mathematical algorithms ends up making the world wisely...wisdom is the contemplation of beauty and not the other way around...
Guys my idea here is not to decide upon an ranking but rather to understand whether there can be a logical basis for such a ranking. Can there be a logical sound premise for making a statement like "wisdom is superior to beauty" or vice versa.
Almost everyone is born with beauty and have to grow into ugliness... Wisdom never comes without work and an investment of the very youth that beauty is made of, and that takes a little understanding to begin with, but, that too is something some people are born with, like common sense...

@HolySin,
...but if I did just explain you why is it that one must precede the other what other rational basis do you need ?
...or are you nonsensically wondering about why Ontology must precede Epistemology ?
...hell...cry heavens...

@HolySin,
Any ranking one might construe would be subjective, as both beauty and wisdom are valued in different circumstance.
Beauty doesn't have much value in the dark.
Wisdom won't get you a centerfold in Playboy.
...good reply...
...I must nevertheless in my defence explain that my criteria was purely functional...you cannot operate wisdom upon nothingness and beauty by definition is Being/Reality...

They cant be quantified so I dont think so. How much wisdom is equal to how much beauty? How do you measure wisdom and beauty?
Its not something that can be turned into numbers and reflected upon in a purely logical fashion.
Why is wisdom generally regarded as being better than beauty and wealth? I suppose because it is more useful. Beauty is only good for a few things. Wealth is very useful but is difficult to hold if you are not wise, and easy to obtain if you are. Wisdom amplifies any other assets you may have.
Yeah, I get what you're saying, they're intrinsically linked, are beauty and wisdom.
I erred in my earlier post; music is beauty in the darkness.
As I've grown older, and hopefully wiser, I see beauty in the strangest things.
...yes it is a bit like a self referring fractal pattern...wisdom is the beauty of beauty...the "beautfulness" of recognizing the beauty...closure through simulacrum, language that is !
Manored, ugliness is also in the eyes of beholder.
The ability to appreciate beauty IS a form of wisdom. And it is very wise to look for, and develop a capacity for, the enjoyment of beauty (i.e., the arts).

@wayne,
Wayne, I must say that I love to hear Beethoven and Dvorak in the dark.
