There are many schools which have summer assignments. These are mostly in the matter of the English Depts. and involve reading 2 to 4 books (good schools may ask for more) and writing a report on them. It's a way of keeping the ruffians out of trouble at the CenturyIII Mall or terrorizing the shoppers at Kaufman's and running wild down in the Strip district. I think if Hamilton was attending Carrick H.S. he'd be reading his Chemistry text right now to wow the teachers in September.

well, yes. there ARE summer reading lists, mandatory volunteer hours (as far as i know, which isnt much)

I'm a former teacher (retired) I believe education should continue throughout the year, even when the school has its annual cleaning. Keeping the mind constantly stimulated has proven beneficial, so get out your science books and study, study, study! You'll receive a mandatory exam this year on the third day of school in geophysics, focusing on plate tectonics.
