What were you like as a child? Did life turn out the way you imagined it would as a kid?

I was a little wild thing who never stopped moving. Later on I developed an excruciating shyness. But, every day has always been a surprise, still so.

Have no complaints. As a child I would say "Bale of hay, bale of hay take my wish and go away. I always asked for wisdom. Should have asked for wealth.

@GracieGirl,
Well, I'm still a kid but I think I'm really smart and artistic. I have alot of energy. I'm kinda a tomboy but I get really girly sometimes. I like to have fun all the time and it usually gets me in trouble. Razz

When I grow up I wanna be a prosecutor like my dad, or I wanna be a director or dancer or artist. Something creative maybe. I haven't really made up my mind yet. But I wanna be successful and I wanna help people and make them happy. I wanna find my mom and I want her to love me and be a part of my life. I wanna marry a hot guy with tons of money. I want us to be married forever and never break up. I wanna be rich and beautiful and super smart. And I want a big family and when I get old, like 30 or something, I wanna have lots of kids , 3 or 4, like my dad. Very Happy

Oh! And I have a twin sister so I want to have twins and I want me and my sister to have kids at the same time so our kids can be really close and bestfriends like me and her! Very Happy

Graciegirl - you sound like me! I was a tomboy- loved to play outside and play games and stuff. I always wanted to have kids and be a mother. I thought I wanted to be a writer, but realized that I was too sociable to enjoy such a solitary profession, so I became a teacher.

I was one of six and my mother called me her most mischievous. I was good at school, loved pretty much every minute of it because I was so curious and loved learning new things. I would pretty quickly bend most rules in order to have fun, but would never do anything really bad like break any laws or hurt anyone.

Every day was an adventure. I woke up early and stayed up as late as I could. I was always outside walking my dogs, swimming, riding my bike, playing jump rope, running around in the woods- we went camping alot.
My parents also loved to travel and so I was taking long trips and visiting new places from the time I can remember. It's in my blood- I still love nothing more than a road trip or visiting and learning about a new place.
We lived in a great neighborhood with lots of kids to play with.

My life turned out better than I ever could have wished really.

This is me at five:

@aidan,
Aww! You were soo cute! I love the dimples! (big smile) Yea, we sound just the same! Except we only travel once a year in the summer to visit my grandparents in Canada, I love traveling too! It's awesome! But everything else is just like me! Very Happy

Hopefully, when I'm older or your age, my life will be as much fun as yours seems to be! (girlish giggles) Very Happy Smile Razz

Shy and obedient.

I was an only child in a family that moved a lot. Well, I don't remember not being obedient then. I never sassed (talked back) as that was something I early on learned was a sin, from my particular schooling. My father and mother didn't argue in front of me either, both having strong silent streaks. Consequently, as I approach 100 slowly, many years later, I am still working out how to argue. Even now I have little tolerance for any length of it. Not about violence but for the tense sounds of arguing at length, and the apparent uselessness.

Sometimes when I read a well written polemic by some reputed critic of whatever area of study, I need rest periods. Perhaps not just the arguing sounds I think I am hearing, but all that thinking at once.

I can now argue for a short bit, say my opinions, not only without quavering, and not only stating an opinion baldly if rudely, though I do that, but in a tempered thoughtful way. That last only happens occasionally.

But thoughtful argument is one of the most valuable modes there is. It's a key part of my interest in a2k. Some people here argue exceptionally well, whatever their points of view, and they are like jewels to me. (You all don't know who you are on my list, I don't think. Not perhaps as expected.)

Well, this is more than you wanted to know, Gracie. But you are also about the age where learning how to discuss things with others is very valuable.
