Curious as to why you feel it is strange or disingenuous? It's not like the info is your personal home address, your phone number or has a hold of your bank account, etc. I see little harm done from the claim.

Do you know for a fact that other sites don't do the same exact thing? It just so happens that I know for a fact that many of Internet dating sites retain info from former or inactive members for years.

Perhaps A2K should state that it has 1000 interactions /day and 365k interactions /yr instead of saying it has over 100k members? Suggest a change to the text to say it has had 100k members since going online? Maybe you can suggest that to administration?

I didn't say anything about retaining info, Edgar brought that up, that's the norm.
What I found unusual was the inability to cancel your membership, now that is not the norm and I wonder is it so, so as to inflate the membership total which, yes, I do find disingenuous.
Explain to me why you think A2K have a "you cant cancel your account" policy and if you also know for a fact if many other social or dating sites do so, this is the only one I've ever come across.

But like I said, no big deal.

I'm obviously not Ragman but my guess on this has always been that the volunteers already have too much to keep up with spammers and active members to worry much about inactive members. I know they wouldn't be a priority for me.

Fair enough, although I cant see it being that difficult to keep up on the couple of 100 or so active members.
I don't buy it and am still suspicious of the non cancellation policy. It smacks of cooking the books to me concerning membership numbers.
But so be it.
