Hey Gautam, watch out for Boston. They set you up with a meet, then they all wash their hair on the same evening.

Smile

They still haven't forgiven us for objecting to the Boston Tea Party.

And don't forget to pop into the 'Anita Bryant Bar' in Dade County, Florida and order yourself a Shirley Temple. Those folks down there will give you a welcome that you'll never forget!!

Nooo, G, with this kind of advanced notice, I think we can get at least a few people to make commitments. If it must be during the week, I prefer tuesday or wednesday evening (10th or 11th).

Actually, Gautam, I am supposed to be having some time off through february - we'll see. But, perhaps I could tour-guide you around Boston and/or Cambridge....

<happy I might get to see Dagmaraka dance>

Probably!! I say probably and not definitely because E.G. is in the thick of job search/ interviews, which includes trips for us to check out the place if he gets an offer. So lots of uncertainty in coming months. But probably!

That'd be great. <beam>

Littlek, heeeheee. You mean, because I know the Bristish Air schedule? There is only the one flight over and back and it hasn't changed in years. They're so staid and stable, those Brits.

How can you?? You KNOW I've been to over 80 countries! Who conquered the world then???

Planning to be in Boston 11-12 Feb. Some questions..

1. Not sure if I wanna fly from NY to Boston, given the current state of airlines/airports (specially with my brown skin Smile). Is train/bus an option?
2. How much will a good hotel cost ? (if I dont find someone to take me home with him Wink )

Gautam, buses are very frequent from the Port Authority in NYC and are no problem. Round trip will cost you between $70 (Bonanza) up to $130 (Coach, Peter Pan, Greyhound and those). Or you can take Amtrak or Acela (the fast train), which is prolly more comfortable and more expensive (Acela around $200). Bus and train take around 4 1/2 hours, Acela around 3 1/2. There are frequent flights to Chicago, best carrier seems to be ATA (I was just booking flights to Chicago yesterday) and if you are a bit flexible with time of the flight you can get a ticket for about $200 to $230, but even if you need exact times it should be under 300.
There are plenty of good places to stay in Boston - especially around Harvard Square in Cambridge there are multiple nice bed and breakfasts and inns - like Inn at Harvard, or Kirkland St. Inn. If you check out www.bostonphoenix.com, there is a lot of links and such. You are welcome to stay with us, if you'd settle for an air mattress. Comes with royal breakfast, provided there is food in the fridge!
Soooo excited, I already marked the calendar. Tell us what you want to see/do, so that we can prepare your itinerary for Boston!

Dag just covered it, but wanted to let you know in case you didn't that geographically speaking, NY and Boston are pretty close together, on the East Coast, and Chicago is a ways (cough) away, in the Midwest.

O'Hare is a MAJOR airport that has a zillion flights, though, and prices are great.
