I have to explain my post, since I'm so proud of my puzzle within a puzzle...

We're going to South Dakota in a few days, and I remember from my travels there that the ads for the place (i.e. Wall Drug) often build expectations that don't match reality. So...

Without the "A", "D" and "S" the "Badlands" becomes "b--land-"; and without the ads, it's a little bland too.

Am I overthinking this? LOL!!!!

And, a response...

You know about life
Typically only when
You're on your way out

Nice one, mom! I wouldn't have gotten it if you hadn't pointed it out. I'm a little out of it at this late hour!

You're on your way out
Don't let the door hit you in...
Make sure you stay out!

Where you are, no doubt it shines

Out of your backside
One can see small, blue creatures.
Look out! They're moving.

My respect for all creatures
Trumped - by need to stomp.

Hello from Mitchell, South Dakota - home of hotels with public high speed internet connections and curiously sleepy children!

A birthday present indeed. Smile

I'm glad that you're enjoying yourself, Boom! Have you been to that town, before?

Again her options
Seemed to her quite limited:
Ted Hughes or Dickens?

Ted Hughes or Dickens.
Rusks, dry or dripping butter.
We search for mid-ground.

We search for mid-ground,
But, we have not yet found it:
Damn these malls' car parks!
