“In Paris, when certain people see you ready to set your foot in the stirrup, some pull your coat-tails, others loosen the buckle of the strap that you may fall and crack your skull; one wrenches off your horse's shoes, another steals your whip, and the least treacherous of them all is the man whom you see coming to fire his pistol at you point blank.”

The Democrat elite sit go to the feast and eat and drink until they're satiated then leave the table scraps for the servants and fool themselves and others that they care about the servants. The GOP elite go to the feast and eat and drink until they're satiated then put the scraps in go boxes to prevent them from falling into the hands of the servants, making no pretense that they care about them.

“Who's they?" He wanted to know. "Who, specifically, do you think is trying to murder you?"
"Every one of them," Yossarian told him.
"Every one of whom?"
"Every one of whom do you think?"
"I haven't any idea."
"Then how do you know they aren't?"
"Because..." Clevinger sputtered, and turned speechless with frustration.
Clevinger really thought he was right, but Yossarian had proof, because strangers he didn't know shot at him with cannons every time he flew up into the air to drop bombs on them, and it wasn't funny at all.”

And which gets it's "of no further use" carcass into the meat pies, burgers, Cornish pasties, sausages, salamis, lasagnes and frozen ready-mades right across the range that you see so attractively displayed in the freezer units of the large supermarket chains. In Europe I mean.

"Never smarten up a chump" is my favourite WCF witticism. Although setting alight the bailiff's warrant scene was very amusing. He had a wonderful attitude to the ladies. Such integrity is very rare.
