The phrase "of the century" means that the thing described is the most extreme or remarkable thing of its kind of the last 100 years. The car of the century, the film of the century, the crime of the century, etc.

Not necessarily the LAST century;
it can refer to any period of 1OO years, e.g. the 17OOs, or the 18OOs, or the 19OOs, etc.

Euphemism is a word substitute for objectionable word or activity such as for 'sh*t' the word 'poop' is used or 'gonorrhea' being substituted by 'sexually transmitted disease' or 'STD'.
