He has to pop in to say, "Just one more thing," before he's gone for good.

@boomerang,
Awww.

I had a little worlds collide moment, a friend of mine on Facebook posted *exactly* your title as her status. One less w, that's it.

I have the "aww" reaction too though -- something about him was just very sweet. Sad.

@boomerang,
I was never a huge fan of Columbo, but thought Peter Falk was okay.

My favourite movie with him in it?
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

A little known fact:
Peter Falk was in one episode of Have Gun - Will Travel in 1960.

@Reyn,
He was also in a third-season Twilight Zone episode, "The Mirror" (10/20/61).

I thought Falk was a wonderful actor, capable of being many kinds of characters.

I view his portrayal of Columbo as one of the best characters TV ever had.

The In-Laws still makes me laugh.

He was a talented man.

That was my dad's favorite movie.
I've always liked it too.
When my daughter was little, I'd go to pick her up from dad's, and there they'd be, watching it again.

@boomerang,
Oh, this is very sad to hear.

I loved him as the crumpled Columbo. What a wreck! But a very smart one! Smile

And also admired his later serious roles in films, like A Woman Under The Influence and Husbands. (both directed by John Cassavetes)

Re the link I gave above, it's a fairly long take of Falk doing a "roast" on Sinatra. All these famous people are laughing their brains out. Really worth watching but I can't figure out how to embed it.

@ossobuco,
Here you go, osso.
I couldn't embed it from the link you posted, either. (Don't know how to.)
But I checked youtube & (I think) I've found the same clip.

@msolga,
Wow, I hadn't heard about him in many a year, but I used to enjoy Colombo.
How long ago was that?

@cicerone imposter,
Probably years before we saw it in Oz, ci.
We got television quite a while after you did.
But I remember Columbo from my earliest TV watching days as a little kid.
Thought he was a very unique character even then!
