@George,
They almost beat the Lions last week in Detroit. I thought they might be improving. On offense I mean. And they are at home.

On the "meek will inherit the earth" principle the Saints should always beat the Vikings but I know that principle is in abeyance in the US in our era and pointedly in NFL.

Besides, I need to take chances to get up the standings table. And beat Tico. I'll probably never hear the last of it if he's ahead of me at the end. He'll go Whupp-Ass crazy.

As you know, rjb's format is flawed. When you go racing on Ladies Day at Chester and back all the favourites you might come off level and the lady you are escorting, after picking all the names that remind her of her past in a positive way, comes away with six losers and a 33-1 winner and spends the rest of the night smirking in a superior manner. In this game she would be second place.

@spendius,
or in first place on two weeks

(but still treading water just above 16th place in the overall rankings)

I love this game.

I can pick teams based on my favourite sandwiches and beat people who actually know the team names. Blessed awesomeness.

@ehBeth,
That the names of sandwiches are reminders of your past in a positive way, Beth, is pretty convincing evidence that you weigh over 105 pounds.

@spendius,
ha ha

not reminders of my past - I've never had most of them - I like the sound of them

if I weighed 105 pounds, I'd have to be explaining things to the doctor again - scrawny isn't healthy for many people (and looks nasty on all of them)

That's even worse. Had you had them your penchant for them would be understandabe on Pavlovian principles. As it is it is a romantic thing you have for exotic sandwiches.

There is a religion of mellifluously flowing cadences in words. Like in "milk and honey". " Sheer silk stockings with straight seams." "Steak and kidney pudding with crispy crusts served with thick gravy". "Cornish pasties". "Jam roly poly with runny custard." "Thornley's Prize Black Puddings." "Lob scouse". "As dawn broke streams of golden light bathed the peaceful countryside."

Scientists have to beware of drivel of such a nature.

I got JPB's pick of Atlanta in Thursday's game but still need selections for the 15 remaining games.

oops. Very limited internet access this week. I wasn't aware there was a Saturday game. I'll just skip this week and carry on next week.

Good morning, except it is afternoon in the UK. We are still missing picks from JPB and I haven't seen here around A2K today.
The majority of us agree on 81% of our choices this week. There are 4 games that I should probably classify as tossups: NYJ @ Phil and Pitts @ SF. In each case we split 11-9 in favor of the teams from Pennsylvania. We have Chicago 12-8 over Seattle and Buffalo over Miami by the same margin.
Oddly, we are only unanimous in picking Cincy over St Louis. George alone has Washington against the NY Giants. And then there is Mis Cowdoc. She is the only player to take Kansas City vs Green Bay, Cleveland against Arizona and Denver over New England.
Fbaezer, Ragman, McCentrix, Liontamerx and Edgar agree with the majority on 15 of the 16 games.

@realjohnboy,
We cross posted, rjb. Consider me awol for the week and I'll get back into the swing of things next week.

@JPB,
Can you pick a loser in the Detroit @ Oakland game? You have them both winning.
Your choice to win is .............

@JPB,
Half time in the early games. All of them look competitive, except perhaps for Carolina over Houston. 21-0.

@realjohnboy,
Early games over. We stink, but Tico and Cowdoc are better than the rest of us.

@realjohnboy,
3--7 is worse than stink. Will the Giants get paid for that?

Well, these results will give the talking heads some fuel for babble.

Ah, I picked Carolina all the wrong weeks..
