When I joined this forum .... 7 years ago .... I saw someone (Occum Bill, as I recall), type "bm" in a post. As a n00b, I had no idea what it meant in this context.

Pardon me for being a stupid redneck, but I've been here damned near as long, and I STILL have no idea what he means. When I was a nursing home orderly 38 years ago, it meant "bowel movement".

It means "bookmark." Someone who says that wants to track the thread, but not necessarily post or participate in the thread.

...but it probably is more applicable to some of my NFL picks this year. More than some, I'm afraid.....

I've never really understood computer forum bookmarking. At least on a2k, I can just go check my last bunch of posts and find the threads I frequent. Well, I guess I understand - but I'm too much of a blabbermouth and would have to say something.

The other meaning is something I remember very well, as a lab tech in my early years..

I knew my choice of the 49ers was a bad move, eh.., but I did it anyway.

8 of the 21 of us picked SF. 7 are choosing the now Cutler less Bears vs Oakland. I reminded one of them, Andy, that he could still switch. He declined. And Vick is out as QB for the Eagles tomorrow but Vince Young is a credible backup. Only Fbaezer is picking Philly against NE. The rest of us could get burnt on that one.

But your's was funnier!

As Fbaezer is probably out of the running for my title in 9th place the result is of no consequence if the rest of us are on NE.

The consequence would be amusement.

The 3 Thursday games - which together took about 12 hours - ended with 9 of the 21 of us with unblemished records. There are 7 early games starting in about an hour.
The 3 leaders through week #11 (Johnboy @ 111-49; Ragman @ 108-52 and George @ 107-53) are not playing defense in their picking.
Johnboy and Ragman disagree on 4 of the 10 games including the Thursday games through the early games today.* Same with Johnboy vs George* and Ragman against George.
*Johnboy is one game up after picking Balt while Ragman & George went with SF.

I'll be closely wathcing that danged Bears-Raiders game. Bears substitute QB Haney best be handing off ALOT to Forte. I do hear that he has a strong arm...but we'll see. No matter what, I just don't think Raiders are ready for Bears tight defense - home stadium or not.
