@realjohnboy,
Can it get worse than last week? More than likely, but I still refuse to give in and flip a penny, like the Miz did last week, even though I'm sure the results would be better.......

@Ticomaya,
And, Mysteryman, since I'm damned near eleven years older than you, you must be young. Of course, Miz Cowdoc is almost fifteen years older than you, so all bets may be off in that regard. (It's also a good thing I'm in Denver.)

On Paterno, an angry column by the LA Times Bill Plaschke - he makes some good (in my opinion) points re the nature of the hold big time football programs have on the universities that they affect:

@ossobuco,
I am missing only JPB's pick on tonight's Oakland @ San Diego game.
Choosing Oakland are George, Edgar and ...and... and I forget who the third one is.

Oh, yeah. McGentrix.

The way Palmer & Rivers have been going, we may see a record for total
interceptions set tonight.

@George,
As a matter of interest George what is the frequency of such things as interceptions, fumbles and pass-interference type stuff in games down in the lower levels. The amateurs.

Is the spectacle as pathetic as that of NY marathon runners who are struggling to the finish line as the winner boards a plane to fly home.

Pathetic? I don't think so. Consider what "amateur" means.

@George,
I have done. I expended my prime as an amateur gigolo and look at the thanks I got.

Yes, of course that's what I meant ... MM is a young man.

@Ticomaya,
I don't need you to tell me that Tico. I'm not one of those people who can't repent.

@ossobuco,
What a way to start out (a loss) in this Pick-em contest. Then, with it being a Thurs night game, you get 3 days to marinate in it. It's analagous to wearing (I imagine) a pissy Pampers for 3 days.

Speaking of dirty diapers, I don't envy QB Rivers for the next week. He's not a loser (or has that mentality). He's just having a bad year. How one can distinguish this, I have no idea. I see his interviews and he seems to have the right attitude - not complacent to be losing but not desperate, either.
