@cicerone imposter,
My feeling, C.I., is that war is run by the "sin" of greed, and the gullibility of the young men and women who are maimed and killed is part of the reason the greedy manage to pull it off year after year. Conscientious objectors are heroic souls.

@JLNobody,
The defense contractors in this country never seems to go out of business.

The government pays them on their R&D costs, and then spends additional billions to buy the equipment - most often that are not needed in today's wars.

@cicerone imposter,
Yes, in my more cynical moments I suspect that the military industrial complex (read the pentagon and arms industry lobby) pushes continuously for us to find excuses to be in a virtually continuous (and profitable) war.

@hamilton,
Hamilton, the most important thing to know in life is God, to know God, and then to make God know. Smile

I have taken some iconoclastic pleasure in disproving that,
like on some chosen occasions, just dropping a $1OO.oo bill
in front of her while walking past, without breaking stride.

She can use it to buy lunch for free, if she wants to; maybe a few lunches, if she does not splurge.

It WAS free for her, but not for you. (?) That is to say, SOMEONE had to pay for it.
