(1) BMW car accident
a woman killed, 12 injured

(2) The driver was sentenced going to prison for 2 years after 3 years on probation.

(3) Countless citizens in the nation are provoked by the obviously unfair sentence. Tens of thousands of netpals have been expressing their opinion on the Internet, calling for court to rehear the case.

TIA

This sounds like a headline. There's nothing wrong with the wording.

The driver was sentenced going to prison for 2 years after 3 years on probation.

The driver was sentenced to 2 years in prison followed by three years of probation. OR The driver received a 2-year prison sentence, which will be followed by 3 years of probation.

I have to assume that the probation follows the prison sentence.

Countless citizens in the nation are provoked by the obviously unfair sentence. Tens of thousands of netpals have been expressing their opinion on the Internet, calling for court to rehear the case.

calling for THE court to rehear the case.

Thanks Roberta.

"The driver was sentenced going to prison for 2 years after 3 years on probation. "

I meant:

Firstly, the driver should suffer 3-year probation, and then the driver should be in prison for 2 years. That is, not "2 years in prison followed by 3 years of probation", but "3 years of probation followed by 2 years in prison".

But I don't know western law system. Razz
