The word Resident is a part of the title referred to . . . Resident Evil was originally a video game from which a motion picture was derived. In the simple context of the use of resident as an adjective, it would mean that whatever word is modified by the adjective resident is an endemic feature. So, for example, if one were to say the resident silliness of Monty Python's Flying Circus (a comedy television program), one would be inferentially asserting that all things to do with the program rely on silliness.
