National Center for Research Resources
(NCRR) has burnished his image among
many scientists who were already fans. “I
admire his courage. I think he was absolutely
correct,” says cell biologist Keith Yamamoto
of the University of California, San Fran-
cisco, who calls NIH Director Francis Col-
lins’s decision to abolish NCRR without
input from his advisers “pretty distressing.”
