@gungasnake,
Even better yet raise taxes on those who can afford it and cut subsidies to the oil companies.

@RABEL222,
Those who can afford it these days means anybody who can read, write, dress and feed themselves...

@PhoebeKate,
Nope, and neither did the soldiers who came back from Afhganistan and Iraq and committed suicide and were blamed on Bush by the leftist media. You lefties love to dish it out, but you can't take it.

You're really quite good at pointing up just what a dismal place the USA is, Ren.

@JTT,
Why, or course. That must be why so many people are risking so much to get here. Uh, yeah, that's it.

The only thing dismal about the USA is the political climate that our President and his corrupt unions and liberals have ginned up to divide the American people. He's a damn disgrace and needs to be fired.

@Renaldo Dubois,
Boy are you out of date. The divide the nation concept goes way back to the post Nixon years. Its been a practiced fine art by the lying conservatives not just the weeny liberals.

Remember "death panels"(GOP 2009) and "every AMerican should own a home" (GW Bush 2002.)

Good one, Renaldo. Like that old canard has never been advanced before. People try to get to any country where they have a chance for a better life. It's called emigration and immigration. People go to NZ, Aus, Ireland, England, Germany, South Africa, Japan, Korea, ... .

But if the US stopped supporting so many dictators around the globe, stopped causing so much unrest in countries all over the world, stopped killing innocents in countries all over the world, stopped stealing the wealth from countries all over the world, stopped creating markets that favor the US and wreck others chances for even a simple fair life then maybe, just maybe a lot of these refugees could have a reasonable life in their own countries.

@farmerman,
The death panels turned out to be true. The republicans have had big blunders, no doubt. I'm not a republican. Thank God for the Tea Party to keep the republicans honest. We have to get rid of Obama and take more senate and house seats. We are in trouble. We need a business person in the White House. Obama has never produced a job in his life and it shows. I don't know how long the Democrats can keep supporting this fraud. Smells like 1979.

You had one in GW Bush . And he almost managed to tank the entire country. We are gonna be years digging out from his dopey regime.

You try to disconnect yourself from that guy by making believe all these economics problems were just yesterday.

The Obama regime is the least business friendly regime in American history and it shows.
Obamanomics has killed over 1 million private sector jobs and Obamacare is poised to kill another million private sector jobs.
Obama has secured his spot in American history as the worst president ever, even worse than Jimmy Carter.

@farmerman,
When all this furore about 'Socialised Medicine,' kicked off, there was real anger in the UK. We think it's a real brass neck to criticise our Universal Healthcare,(I prefer to use the correct terminology) when American Healthcare is significantly behind the UK in world ranking. The fact is that 'death panels,' don't exist in America, but it's not the 'death' part of the phrase that is wrong it's the 'panel' bit. An individual decides whether or not to allow someone access to life-saving health care, and the decision is based purely on ability to pay.

In the last UK general election slimy Dave Cameron, ran a load of airbrushed campaign posters with the slogan, 'I'll cut the deficit not the NHS.' Universal Healthcare is so popular over here that even the Tories dare not crticise it's basic principles. To do so would guarantee electoral meltdown. Once you have Universal Healthcare you will never want to go back to any other system. The current system in America benefits only the very wealthy. We don't see it as an arguement about 'socialisation,' we see access to first class
healthcare as a basic right.
