(New York)The habit these days among the 20-30s around here is go bare-floor.
At least, that's what a 50 something friend of mine was told when she asked some of that crowd in her office.
(She wanted to give her veddy rich boyfriend a surprise gift for his birthday. )
The ladies gave her a couple of names of salons which provide the service accompanied by music and the fruit martini(s) of your choice.
She had it done on a Tuesday afternoon, waited for him to return from a business trip late on Friday, drove to his house and climbed into bed very early on Saturday.

Growing up, we had hedges along one side of the house. I hated trimming it, but my father loved to trim it. He bought an electric hedge trimmer that required a very long, heavy duty electric extension cord. The three prong (grounded) plug needed to be attached to a special outlet on the outside of the house. This outdoor outlet had to be installed special and was costly.
Using the power tool, as noisy as it was, really made the job unpleasant. On top of that, I have some kind of innate fear of power tools. I was accident-prone as a kid and could easily imagine hurting myself with it.
Once we went several months into the spring and summer without trimming it. The city gave us a citation and asked us to pay a fine because the hedge was obstructing the view of cars driving through the alley. My parents eventually hired professional landscapers who charged quite a fee to do periodic trimming of the hedges.
I hope this helps, Chai.
