"At better stores everywhere, or write C.F. HATHAWAY, Waterville, Maine, for the name of your nearest store. In New York, telephone OX 7-556. Prices from $5.95 to $20.00"
What is a "better store"? Does it mean that in a store with relatively high quality you can all find the address of the nearest store of HATHAWAY? By the way, what does "OX" stand for?
@Justin Xu,
Better stores are ones that sell higher quality merchandise.
The OX might stand for Oxford. At one time, decades ago, the first two numbers of phone numbers were given names, and you dialed the first two letters. Our phone dials and phone pads have both letters and numbers assigned to the same buttons or dial position. Actually, I haven't seen an actual phone 'dial' in the past twenty years.

No, that is not what it means.
A "better store" carries higher quality merchandise. You can find the item they are advertising in most better stores. If you cannot find it in a store, you can write to C.F. HATHAWAY and they will send you the name of the nearest store where you can find the item.
