New chat function?

That chat window sucks. Every time i try to scroll up to catch up on the conversation, it jumps back to the last comment made, even if no one has said anything for a while. It's impossible to follow the conversation unless you were there when it began. Oh well . . .

Setanta, ehBeth told us how to fix that earlier today.
You have to take the cursor from the "dialogue box" (you type & post from) & place it in the existing discussion. That fixes it.
I haven't explained it half as well as she did.
Hope you get the gist.

The chat box has a 200 character limit for each message.
Next to the input box you can see the number 200.
As you type, this number will progressivly reduce allowing you to see how many characters you have left.

Too late . . . i didn't read the whole post, and now's she's awake and really, really pissed . . .

Point of Information:
What is the reason to chat that way,

I feel its a little more personal David almost like seeing someone in the streest and saying hi, whats cooking?

Chat also has the advantage of immediacy. You post something, and someone responds in the time it takes them to type the response. It's about as close to talking as you can get online, which is why it's called chat. It's a much faster way to communicate than through these posts.

Thanks, DP, i found The Girl's post, and i've made it work for me. I appreciate the help, and The Girl went back to sleep, so no worries.

A number of members have complained they are unable to scroll back and read previouse message in the new chat window. The messages window quickly returns to the most recent post.

Hopefully this will assist.

This pic shows the position of the blinking cursor when you are ready to type your message.



In order to scroll back and read previous messages. Click your mouse cursor within the chat window area that message appear in AFTER they have been posted. Out lined in red below. Now you can scroll back using the scroll bar at the right of the chat window and read at your leisure.
