who are the best players that are Virginian born?

I am from VA (pretty obvious) and really obsessed with the baseball thing, I must say. I guess it is interesting to talk about a VA born that made it to the big league and made a name. 268 players born in Virginia, but only one Hall of Famer: Eppa Rixey, born in Charlottesville.

Willie Horton (1963-80) has the most HR's 325 & RBI's 1163...
Paul Hines (1872-91) has the most hits 2133...
David Wright (2004-?) has the highest batting average (minimum 100 AB's) .305...

pitching-wise, Eppa Rixey (1912-33) won 266 games... but also Shocked

lost a whopping 251...

Eppa Rixey is always high on the list of Hall of Famers who shouldn't be there. I'm not sure what you do with a guy who won 266 games (that's a lot) but who also lost 251 games (that's a lot too). In fact, only eight other pitchers have more losses than Rixey -- but then all but one of them is in the HoF as well. It's like Casey Stengel's old adage: you have to be a pretty good pitcher to lose 20 games in a season. Likewise, I suppose you have to be a pretty good pitcher to lose over 250 games in a career.
