I'm not familiar with the particular articles/books that you've referenced, Monique but I am familiar with Larsen-Freeman's book for ESL teachers.
This simple fact, "that second language learning emerges from usage, from a learner's experience with a language" escapes way too many ESL/EFL teachers. They mistakenly think that a language is learned by reviewing grammar and rote memorization.
Language is best learned by using language in a context rich environment in much the same way that children learn their first language.
