Despite a recall election and the concerted efforts of political leaders in recent years, Californians have come to realize that the real challenge is not so much replacing elected officials as fixing a system that is itself broken.
@kkfengdao,
a procedure by which voters can remove an elected official from office through a direct vote (plebiscite), initiated when sufficient voters sign a petition.
@dadpad,
Thanks! Have you ever heard of Angie Wei of California Labor Federation? Is she a Chinese American? If so, does she have a Chinese name? Thank you!
@kkfengdao,
No. I have never heard of Angie Wei before. i am an Australian Citizen and live in Australia.
I have used a search engine to view a photograph of Angie and suspect that she is of mixed parentage.

@kkfengdao,
Wei sounds pretty damned Chinese to me. Even among the Chinese in China, it is common to take a European first name, so it shouldn't be a surprise for an American woman to do so.
As DP points out, Miss Wei has the look of an east Asian. Here is her very brief biography from the State of California's web site on the Labor Federation:
Quote:Ms. Wei holds a BA in political science and asian American studies from UC Berkeley, and a master's degree in public policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
