@Irishk,
What would be of equal interest is the actual cost in dollars.

@cicerone imposter,
DoD Sec'y. Gates put it at close to $1B a couple of weeks ago, as I recall. He said initial cost estimates were 'off' a bit. Might have been referring to our drone strikes, which weren't initially planned for, I don't think.

@cicerone imposter,
If they had spent the money on creating an artificial lake in the Libyan desert it would have benefitted the Egyptians, the world economy and help cool down the earth. This attack on Libya only helps the military industrial complex. It doesn't help America in the Arab world at all.

Absolutely obscene!

Come on, lads, let's go fly a few sorties! Then it's off to the bar for refreshments.

talk, I'm aware of all the stupid ways our country spends taxpayer monies at a time in our history when the support for the American middle class has deteriorated to new lows since WWII.

You got that spot on! Our politicians in this country plays loose with the definition of Democracy as it relates to Israel.

I have personally met a Palestinian woman who lives in the Old City, but she doesn't have the freedom to travel in her own country even though her family has lived in Palestine for many generations.

That's democracy?

Oil And the revolt in Libya — What if?
by Dave Cohen

...

However, we are still left with a big unanswered question: when the world needs Saudi Arabia to pump 10 million barrels of crude oil day in and day out, will they answer the call? Or will they let the oil price rise and rise as they did in 2007-2008 when the Kingdom's vaunted spare capacity failed to rescue us? Even if we don't get the answer next week or next month, we will surely know the answer by 2013. If Libya falls apart, and Saudi Arabia does not answer the call, the next oil price shock will begin now, not in 2013 ± 1 year according to my latest forecast.

That is the real geopolitical significance of the revolt in Libya.

America gets its oil from the Alberta oil sands. The Middle East doesn't matter any more.

True; most of our oil comes from Canada and other countries except for Saudi Arabia.

@talk72000,
That's the reason why WikiLeaks is so dangerous to our government; they do stuff that are illegal under international laws that they must keep secret. They go so far as to intemidate and any one that practices "freedom of the press" when they don't like what's published, and will do everything in their power to find some side-issue "crimes" that has nothing to do with the revelation of the government's crimes.

So, there already is a Palestinean state, or are you just referring to the state that is hoped to come to fruition?

FYI, it was called Palestine before the Zionists through their terrorist activities to establish what is now called Israel. Haven't you learned anything about the Irgun?

From About.com.
