Translate Latin to English for change of motto

I want to modify the term "Desiderantes Meliorem Patriam" meaning "they desire a better country" to "they create a better country" not using a fatherland or gender specific term. I then want another version using the term "excellent" instead of "better". Reach me direct. Thank you.

By that I assume you want a word other than Patriam.
Is that correct?
