You're making the mistake of viewing all fundamentalist moslems as being representative of Islam as a whole. That would be the same as viewing the KKK as representative of Christianity. The only reason we know anything about Greek philosophy is thanks to the Moslems. The writings of Aristotle, Socrates Plato and the rest had been lost to the west, but were preseved in the great library at Alexandria. The Moslems saw the value of these works and preserved them for the rest of the world. The word 'chemistry,' has its roots in Arabic. The universites of Oxford and Cambridge were set up by academics who had studied in Moorish Spain. If it had not been for Islam we would not have had the renaissance.

Sure there's no law of physics to prevent a Christian or a Jew from being an asshole. But to be an asshole, a Christian or a Jew has to be in violation of the basic ideas and tenets of his religion.

In the case of I-Slam, that proposition is totally turned around and reversed. A slammite has to be in violation of the basic ideas and tenets of HIS religion to be a normal, decent person.
