@oristarA,
Yes, it does, even if there is no link. Tweets -- when not used in the context of bird calls -- refer to posts on Twitter.

The context in the starting post is misleading.

It should go like this:

Mitochondria Tweet about Aging

(PAGE 79 Linking mitochondria to aging has focused on reactive ...)

That is, "Mitochondria Tweet about Aging" is the title of a medical article.

are you able to link the artical oristar?

It would be my assumption from the information provided that the title refers to a short dissertaion (a "tweet") about mitocondrial bacteria and aging even if it doesnt appear on twitter
It may be the authors attempt at making his paper interesting to a younger generation of reader or to link it to modern society.
It could also refer to some method mitocondrial bacteria has of "communicating"

@dadpad,
I have heard of mitocondrial bcteria before but was unsure where or what context.
while researching i came across this sentence on wikpedia.

"In addition to supplying cellular energy, mitochondria are involved in a range of other processes, such as SIGNALLING...."

I therefore respectfully suggest that my guess about bacteria communicating is correct.
The artical probably goes on to suggest that the bacteria signalls in short bursts of chemical communication, like a tweet on the social network. Twitter

No need to apologize. Because you're well-intentioned.

From my limited understanding of the screenshot you posted my guess appears to be correct.
The editor (probably not the author) has likened the secret chemical signal (mitokine) to a tweet on social network site Twitter being recieved and responded to by other mitochindrial.
Refering to "tweet" was probably done to draw attention to the artical.

@dadpad,
Are you misspelling "article" deliberately?

no it's one of thse "habits". I learned to spell it wrongly in the first place and it will take some work to break the habit.
I do same with sentence/sentance
