In the house I grew up in, we had dogs, cats, ducks, rabbits, chickens, and turtles. On chilly nights they'd all pile up on top of each other to keep warm -- dogs on the bottom, then cats snuggled up against them, then rabbits, then ducks and finally the chickens and rooster on top. During the day, the cats, dogs and rabbits had races around the yard and down the halls of the house.
They all got along splendidly because they were raised together from babies. The rooster met his demise from a neighbor's shotgun when he crowed one too many times.
