@farmerman,
Thanks for the info. That Komondor (hearing Lionel Ritchie now) must take hours upon hours to groom them like they had in the show. I recall ushering a dog show in Denver, CO back in 1971 for some spare money when I was in the USAF. I saw the breeder/groomers up close and personal but that was 40 yrs ago. I can't imagine what it's like now with all thers fussier/harrier breeds..

@Ragman,
I have been to one dog show. I reached to pet this one beautiful standard poodle and I thought his owner was going to tear my arm off! Give me a good old rescued mutt anyday.

@vinsan,
Of course, not, Vinsan, not having an interest in pets or animals does not make you sad. It just makes you different from some people like me who absolutely love having pets around.

I don't like kids. Most girls my age do. But that doesn't bother me.

@chai2,
Agreed - I love animals and I love kids. Babies not so much - although I loved my own babies. Babies, I think look like little martians. They cry and poop and don't really respond much. Kids they react.

What ticks some one, may not tick another.

What would be sad is some one getting animal or child, when one isn't interested because it is expected of them.

@Linkat,
I love babies, children and dogs. I would have had more of both in my life if I were to do it over again.

I think cats are very beautiful, but they make me nervous. Very unpredictable (compared to dogs).
I think horses are beautiful, but they make me a little nervous - so big- but I think I could get over that nervousness more easily than my nervousness around cats.
I love the sight of birds in the sky, but they make me very nervous when they come anywhere near me.
I'm probably even more afraid of birds than I am of cats - close up.

I don't dislike animals, but I am nervous of those I don't know well.

Actually, I feel a little guilty for being so in love with my dog to the point that I'd spend money on her health and well-being while there are people homeless and starving.

So not having a pet or being an animal lover sort of lets you off that moral hook that I get hung up on sometimes (like when I had to spend 1200.00 for an operation when she tore a ligament in her hind leg).
